Someone is holding a Mississippi lottery ticket worth $1.2 million.

A lucky player hit the Mississippi Match 5 jackpot, winning a record-breaking prize in the drawing Wednesday, June 4, the Mississippi Lottery Corporation said in a news release.

The winning ticket, sold at a 69 Mart convenience store in Columbus, matched all five numbers.

It’s the largest jackpot ever won in the game’s history, the lottery said, and eclipsed a “previous jackpot record of $905,168” won in February 2023. That ticket was sold at a Sprint Mart convenience store in West Point, according to officials.

The winning numbers in Wednesday’s drawing were 1-3-11-21-34, results show. The lucky player beat odds of 1 in 324,632 to snag the historic prize.

Officials didn’t say if the winner has come forward as of Thursday, June 5.

McClatchy News reached out to the Mississippi Lottery Corporation for more information June 5 and was awaiting a response.

“This is an incredible win for one of our players and a proud moment for the Mississippi Lottery,” Jeff Hewitt, president of the Mississippi Lottery Corporation, said in the release.

Winners in Mississippi have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes, the lottery said.

The Mississippi Match 5 jackpot will reset to $50,000 for the June 5 drawing.

Columbus is about a 150-mile drive northeast from downtown Jackson.
