How is Merced County doing? Residents will find out Friday morning at the first State of the County event at downtown’s Merced Theatre.

The event starts at 10 a.m. It is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required.

“This inaugural State of the County event is an opportunity to celebrate the progress we’ve made while also sharing a clear vision for where we’re headed,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman Daron McDaniel.

In partnership with the Merced Union High School District, the event is designed to allow for participation from local students, according to a news release.

“We’re proud to open this event to the public and especially to many of our local students,” said County Executive Officer Mark J. Hendrickson. “The State of the County is about transparency, engagement and sharing the work that is happening across our organization to serve the residents of Merced County today while preparing for the future.”
