Merced County expected to make update on latest primary election results
Merced County plans to make an update to its primary election results on Friday.
According to an Unprocessed Ballot Report published Wednesday at 5:15 p.m., there were 25,220 votes processed and 20,375 ballots still to be counted.
Election Day was Tuesday. According to its report, the majority of the ballots still to be counted were the 18,518 vote-by-mail ballots received on or before Election Day.
The update is expected to be made no later than 5 p.m. on Friday.
Only two local races appear to be close enough that they could be affected by the new vote count:
- County superintendent of schools: Richard Lopez leads three others candidates with 7,285 votes (33%). Ana Boyenga had 6,240 votes (28.2%), just ahead of Paula Heupel, who had 6,172 votes (27.9%). The top two finishers advance to a runoff in November.
- District 3 Supervisor: Luis Lara leads incumbent Daron McDaniel 2,951 (58.2%) to 2,100 (41.5%).
This story will be updated when Merced County reveals its latest update.
