What precautions, if any, should California continue to take to cope with COVID-19 and its variants?
Precautions against COVID-19 should be limited to the individual and should not be mandates handed down by the state. Each person should choose for themselves how best to protect themselves from COVID-19, influenza, pneumonia, or any life threatening health condition. Your body, your choice, which means no person will be forced to wear masks, get vaccinated or be forced to provide proof of such. Government does not have that authority so as governor I will be staying within the boundaries and the powers granted to me that are set forth in the Constitution.
California provided significant cash support to individuals and small businesses who suffered during the pandemic, with billions of dollars allocated for rent relief and small-business grants. To what extent should that assistance continue?
No form of public assistance should be long term which is why I will be implementing ‘sunset clauses’ to many existing financial aid programs. Taking money from one neighbor to give to another should not be the government’s role and puts more people of the state deeper into dire straits. PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) loan abusers should be penalized for their deceptive manipulation to receive money meant to help small businesses. As governor I will provide economic relief to homeowners by suspending collection of property taxes which will extend that relief to renters.
What more would you do to address California’s housing crisis?
Suspension of property tax collection will be done immediately once I’m elected governor. Home developers will no longer be required to pay exorbitant permits or licensing fees and zoning regulations will be laxed to stimulate building of new homes. Lowering the costs of living improves housing affordability which is why I will also be suspending income, sales, and excise taxes for all income earners. Building 3D printed homes and Earthships are also ways I plan on making sure unhoused people in our state are able to have a roof over their heads without putting a hole in taxpayers wallets. No person in California should have to live on the streets and I’ll make sure that’s the case while I’m in office.
What should California do to build up its middle class?
Let them keep their money in their own pocket instead of in the hands of the government! As a working class member myself, I’m well aware of the small payments for food, utilities, vehicle registration fees, insurances, and other monthly bills that quickly add up for families. Reduced prices results in reduced costs for those expenses and enhances the standard of living. That’s why as governor I will immediately cancel all tax collection and licensing fees to increase take home pay for every household. Making California more business friendly will spark job growth and opportunities to excite a new generation of investment into our state.
Would you propose any new policies to address climate change?
My Gold New Deal addresses our environmental impact by shifting California onto the path of sustainability quickly while also establishing energy independence from singular providers, like PG&E and SoCal Edison, who have done more than enough damage to our planet. Creating a public owned utility that will utilize renewable sources of energy like solar, hydro, geothermal, and even Thorium based nuclear facilities will be one of my top priorities. Atmospheric water generators will be placed throughout the state so that we’re able to get our water from the air instead of out of the ground and stop California from sinking further as well as be able to avoid future droughts. Clean up projects and recycling will be incentivized to accelerate zero waste production and beautification of our state’s landscape. All of our livelihoods are essential so making sure that every person has reliable and affordable access to food, water, power, and shelter is of the utmost importance to me.
What should California do in the long term to address wildfire and drought conditions?
Responsible forest management plays an unquestionable role in eliminating wildfire threats which is why as governor I will green light clean burn practices like those once done by indigenous tribes throughout the state and open the door to community logging. Holding PG&E and SoCal Edison accountable for any contribution to wildfires is a guarantee from me the people of California can bank on. They can be rest assured the same for Nestle and Crystal Geyser for their reckless water usage. A public owned utility under my Gold New Deal will make sure the people of California have reliable water and power available to them at no charge. Promoting rock farming, permaculture standards, and cannabis cultivation are also ways I plan on making sure we have an environment that’s livable for everyone and every animal now and for generations to come.
