Another Walmart store brand product recalled nationwide on salmonella concerns

For the second time in a week, a massive recall on salmonella concerns has hit the nation’s largest grocer, this time pulling organic chia seeds sold under Walmart’s store brand.

Manufacturer National Sourcing International recalled Lot No. 24095 C018 of Great Value Organic Chia Seeds in 32-ounce packs with an expiration date of Oct. 30, 2026. Walmart’s posted list of stores involved shows more than 30 states are affected.

Last week, a recall of Palmer Candy made products hit Walmart and several other chains.

According to the CDC, salmonella strikes 1.35 million people in the United States each year, hospitalizing 26,500, usually with bloody diarrhea, and killing 420 people. Most people get diarrhea, fever and tummy aches for four to seven days.
