If you bought tahini since May 2023, check this recall made after salmonella was found
Salmonella caused the recall of tahini that first went to stores around the United States in 2023.
AB World Foods announced its testing discovered the salmonella in Al-Fez Natural Tahini, first distributed to stores on May 26, 2023.
Recalled lots are: 3031, best before 2024 JL 31; 3080, best before 2024 SE 09; 3270, best before 2025 MR 27; and 3297, best before 2025 AL 04. Lot numbers can be found on the lower rear of the 5.6-ounce jars. Return recalled tahini to the store where you bought it for a full refund.

Salmonella infects 1.35 million people in the nation annually, the CDC estimates, hospitalizing about 26,500 (usually with bloody diarrhea) and killing about 420 people. Most people get fever, stomachaches, vomiting and diarrhea that starts anywhere from six hours to six days after infection and lasts four to seven days.
