Another salmonella outbreak recall from a grocery chain in Florida and 23 other states

The latest recall rippling from a salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers came from the Sprouts Farmers Market supermarket chain, which yanked its Gyro Family Kits.

Supplier Reser’s Fine Foods told Sprouts the cucumbers in the kit’s tzatziki sauce might have salmonella. A different company recalled the same product, gyro sandwich kits, for the same reason from Walmart’s Sam’s Club stores last week.

About salmonella

According to the CDC, salmonella strikes 1.35 million in the United States each year, hospitalizes around 26,000 and kills about 420. The vast majority of people suffer through vomiting, diarrhea and stomachaches for four to seven days, then recover without needing medical attention. Children under 5 and adults over 65 suffer the worst symptoms.
