A Lay’s potato chip recall involves Walmart and other stores. Here’s what to know

Frito-Lay announced a recall of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips in Party Size bags. But before you start rending garments because you had bowls of these potato chips at the office Christmas party, you can probably relax — this is a very defined recall that affects a very defined group.

The company’s recall notice says a customer alerted Frito-Lay that milk might be present as an allergen not declared in the packaging. Ingredients listings declare the allergens present in food products.

While this isn’t a problem for most people, it can range from an annoyance to a fatal problem for those with a milk allergy.

Also, this covers bags that went to distributors and online sellers in two states, Oregon and Washington and went on sale Nov. 3. Among the nation’s leading grocery sellers, No. 1 Walmart posted a list of stores that received the recalled bags and No. 2 Kroger stated this involves only its QFC and Fred Meyer chains.

To identify recalled bags, look for a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of Feb. 11, 2025 and manufacturing codes that start with “6462307” or “6463307.”

If you have other questions about this recall, phone Frito-Lay at 800-352-4477, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Pacific time, Monday through Friday.
