A consumer’s teeth got injured by metal inside frozen food recalled from Aldi stores

JAN. 15 UPDATE: The list of “select Aldi stores nationwide” is an 82-page PDF of Aldi stores that the USDA posted Tuesday night.

Metal in taquitos became metal in consumer’s mouths and prompted the latest not-food-in-your-food recall, this one involving Aldi stores.

About 24,870 pounds of Casa Mamita’s Chicken & Cheese Taquitos got yanked from “select Aldi stores nationwide” by Santa Clarita, California’s Bestway Sandwiches. The best by dates on the bottom of the 20-ounce boxes range from 07/03/25 to 09/25/25.

“The problem was discovered after the firm notified USDA-Food Safety Inspection Service that it received a consumer complaint reporting that a piece of metal was found in the frozen chicken and cheese taquito product,” the USDA’s recall notice stated. “Another consumer reported to FSIS to have a dental injury from the product.”

Return recalled taquitos to the store where you bought them for a refund or throw them in the trash deep enough that nosy pets don’t get into them.

If you have questions about this recall, call Bestway Foods at 818-361-1800, ext. 110.
