Here’s why Quaker recalled Pearl Milling Original Pancake & Waffle Mix in 11 states

Pearl Milling Original Pancake & Waffle Mix has been recalled in 11 states after a mistake that could have deadly consequences.

According to Quaker Oats Company’s recall notice, a retailer let the company know that mix with milk could be inside 32-ounce boxes that don’t list milk among the ingredients or as an allergen. While not a problem for most people, “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product.”

What’s recalled is mix in 32-ounce boxes with UPC code No. 30000 65040 and manufacturing code BBD SEP 13 25 P. it went to stores in Kentucky, Mississippi, Illinois, Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Utah and Wisconsin.

If there’s absolutely no chance someone with a milk allergy will pound the pancakes or wolf down the waffles in this mix, carry on. Otherwise, return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund or throw it away.
