Recalled Walmart, Target, Giant Eagle store brand crackers might contain steel wire
About 15,874 cases of oyster crackers sold in 24 states under four brands have been recalled because they might contain stainless steel wire.
You probably haven’t heard of this not-food-in-your-food recall, even though it involves store brands of the nation’s No. 9 and runaway No. 1 grocery sellers (by consumer tracker Numerator.com), Target and Walmart, respectively.
Cracker manufacturer Shearer’s Foods didn’t issue a press release, instead letting sellers know by email.
The Feb. 21 recall came to light Wednesday after the FDA classified this a Class II recall, meaning using the recalled product can cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
If you have any of the following oyster crackers, return them to the store where you bought them and get a refund.
