Sausage sold at Walmart and elsewhere recalled after white plastic found inside

Plastic shouldn’t be among the ingredient amalgamation that creates any sausage, which is why Kayem Foods announced Thursday it is recalling about 24,173 pounds of ready-to-eat sausage.

The Chelsea, Massachusetts, company recalled al fresco Chicken Sausage Sweet Apple with Vermont made syrup flavor in 11-ounce vacuum-packed packs, lot No. 179, to be used or frozen by Oct. 1, 2025. Establishment number “P-7839” is inside the USDA inspection mark.

“The problem was discovered after the firm notified (USDA-Food Safety Inspection Service) that it received three consumer complaints reporting white pieces of plastic in the chicken sausage products,” the USDA-posted recall notice said.

MORE: Plastic could be in yogurts with M&Ms, Oreo, Snickers, Twix, cookie dough pieces
