The possibly serious issue that caused Publix to recall a bakery product
Publix recalled batches of Publix bakery-made Garlic Knot Rolls sold in 12-count packs due to a labeling error that can cause a serious health problem for some people.
The Lakeland-based chain said the labels on the Garlic Knot Rolls sold before Tuesday, March 31, don’t list egg among its allergens.
While that means nothing to most people, to those with an egg allergy, that’s a major omission. Someone with an egg allergy eating the rolls could suffer anything from discomfort to death, depending on the severity of the allergy.
“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” said Maria Brous, Publix’s director of communications, in the Publix website’s recall announcement.
If you have these rolls in your home and there’s even the slightest possibility someone with an egg allergy might eat them, take them back to the store for a full refund. Questions about this recall can be directed to Publix at 800-242-1227.
