Mountain views, heated decks, 20-seat hot tub: Ski mansion Mitt Romney owned is for sale
The former Park City mansion of Mitt Romney, the Utah senator and two-time Republican presidential candidate, is on the market for $15.5 million.
Romney built the luxury log home for his family around 1999. He sold it for about $5 million in 2009 after his first unsuccessful presidential campaign, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com. It’s listed again after numerous upgrades.
The stunning 12,063-square-foot home sits on 16.5 acres of spruce, aspen and oak forest in a community of only 12 homes.
Overlooking the ski resort of Deer Valley, the six-bedroom, nine-bath mansion “lends a feeling of being one with nature, oozing warmth from its log construction, large expanses of glass for views and towering stone fireplace that bring an element of coziness to the large home.,” wrote TopTenRealEstateDeals, which received permission to share photos of the property (see video above). “High vaulted and open-beamed ceilings give an illusion of even more space.”
“Every detail is unique and hand-made, featuring renowned works of art, including carved log details, one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures, sculptures, and custom carved cabinetry, many by acclaimed western artist Peter Fillerup,” according to the official listing.

Hal and Corinne Prewitt are the sellers. He’s a retired race car driver, farmer and visual artist who worked in the tech industry, according to the Wall Street Journal. The couple told the newspaper that they spent millions improving the property since buying it in 2009. For example, the Prewitts relocated the kitchen and added heated outdoor decks, fire pits and a 20-person hot tub. They also upgraded the landscaping.
Mitt Romney amassed his wealth through private equity investment firm Bain Capital, which he co-founded before turning to politics. Mitt Romney was the 70th governor of Massachusetts from 2003 until 2007 and has been Utah’s senator since 2019. He ran a second time for president in 2012 against Barack Obama and lost.
George Romney, Mitt’s father, was the longtime president of American Motors and governor of Michigan.
The ski resort town of Park City is favored by the celebrities.
