Rain is on its way to Merced, weather service says. Here’s what to expect
Merced County saw spring-like weather for a few days last week, but it’s not spring just yet.
Wet weather has returned this week, and it could be around for a while, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers and a thunderstorm are possible overnight on Tuesday, mainly between 1 and 4 a.m., the NWS said.
On Wednesday, showers and a thunderstorm are possible between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wind gusts could reach 25 mph, according to the NWS. There’s a good chance Merced could see more than a quarter-inch of rain Wednesday.
The Merced County Office of Emergency Services posted this warning on a Facebook post: “Remember ... when thunder roars, stay indoors! Stay inside for at least 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder, remain indoors until at least 30 minutes have passed to avoid potential lightning strikes.”
The NWS forecast says Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be dry, but rain will likely return on Sunday, and hang around for a while.
