UPDATE: Extreme heat warning issued for Coachella Valley and San Diego County Deserts

On Saturday at 5:58 a.m. an updated extreme heat warning was released by the NWS San Diego CA in effect until 8 p.m. for Coachella Valley and San Diego County Deserts.
"Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures of 102 to 107 degrees," can be expected according to the NWS. "Overnight low temperatures will only fall into the 70s and lower 80s reducing relief from the heat."
"Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events," explains the NWS.
This warning is in effect until 8 p.m.

- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids.
- Seek shelter: Stay indoors in an air-conditioned room to keep cool.
- Stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
- Child and pet safety: Never leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles, especially when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures within minutes.
- Be mindful outdoors: Take extra precautions when working or spending time outside.
- Select the ideal time: If possible, move strenuous activities to early morning or evening for more favorable conditions.
- Recognize warning signs: Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
- Dress comfortably: Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. In an emergency, call 911.
