High surf advisory active for Los Angeles County until Thursday evening

On Tuesday at 1:28 p.m. the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA issued a high surf advisory in effect until Thursday at 8 p.m. The advisory is for Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles.

The NWS informs, "Large breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet, except 7 to 10 feet along Malibu. Dangerous rip currents."

"There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore," explains the NWS. "Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks."

This advisory is in effect until Thursday at 8 p.m.
