The Mojave Desert placed under a fire weather watch Friday and Saturday

A fire weather watch was issued by the NWS Las Vegas NV on Tuesday at 12:17 p.m. valid from Friday 11 a.m. until Saturday 11 p.m. for Mojave Desert Including Morongo Valley/Yucca Valley.

Residents can expect winds to be southwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph are possible Friday and Saturday and humidity 5 to 15% Friday and Saturday.

"Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended," says the NWS.

This watch is in effect until Saturday at 11 p.m.

According to the NWS, a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
