Chuck Schultz: Don’t be lured by bright lights, support local merchants

I live in Le Grand, but only one mile from Planada. The population varies 350/500 depending on picking season. I only bring this up as we now have a very large retail outlet having its grand opening. We went into it , and we’re very disappointed in the prices. Why would a giant chain store open in a really depressed area? We have five other stores that have been here for years. I want those living in Planada to continue to support the local merchants. The glitter and bright lights will soon be gone leaving a big empty building. Unless we strike oil.
