Marla Hansen: They’re not climate skeptics, they’re in denial

Re “How liberals manipulate data to scare ‘Chicken Littles’” (Letters, Feb. 13): I’m writing regarding manipulated data on climate change. Interest piqued, I decided to do some research on the topic. I guess I’m loving liberals because if they prevail, people worldwide will have the option of still breathing!

International talks in Paris in 2015 could see the world’s nations agree to limit global warming to a rise of CO2.

World-wide our planet is experiencing: Global temperature rise; warming oceans; a rise in global sea levels; shrinking sea ice; declining Arctic Sea ice; glacial retreat in Alaska, Africa, the Alps, Andes, Himalayas and Rockies; extreme weather events; ocean acidification due to higher carbon-dioxide content.

Closer to home, weather patterns have shifted causing an ongoing drought that is major stress for agriculture and our ecosystems. The American Lung Association states the number of asthma- and lung-related illness is on the rise.

Worldwide, 97 percent of scientist believe in climate change caused by man. Hopefully “millennial anger” will get the media to talk about this issue more, stop using the term “climate skeptic” and replace it with “climate-change denier.”
