Pao Yang: Despite bad publicity, Obamacare still works and you can still get it

As outreach and enrollment navigators in the Central Valley, we want to make sure people know that health insurance is still available through the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. Covered California anticipated many of the changes the Trump administration made to discourage enrollment, so there are still many options available – even less expensive than the plans they currently have.

In the Central Valley, almost a 100,000 seniors, children and families rely on the ACA. Our organization helps community members navigate the insurance process. Here’s what we want people to know:

▪ Open enrollment is Nov. 1 through Jan. 31. If you already have coverage, you can go to your enrollment counselor who helped you last year. If you’re not enrolled, Coveredca.com (800 300-1506) can direct you to certified enrollment specialists who speak your language.

▪ If you are enrolled with an insurer who is leaving the market, you can pick another plan. If you don’t renew you will be signed up automatically for the lowest price plan in your tier.

▪ Medi-Cal enrollment is open year-round.

We are here to help you with a free assessment.
