Ron Aragon: Don’t dismiss de-sal for Merced County
Re “Find farmers a new role” (Letters, April 18): Desalinization is our only option to restore water to my beloved state of California, especially to valley growers. Ronald Domont of Los Angeles took the time to offer suggestions to help valley farmers, and you dismissed him with: “Merced is 80 miles from the nearest ocean. Perhaps the writer has Merced confused with Monterey.” The Keystone pipeline is 2,148 miles long. The California aqueduct is more than 700 miles long. San Diego County is building a desalination plant, and Central California can do the same! Contact San Diego County about desalination. Might make a great article!
