Leslie Schleth: Thank-yous to those who help shelter animals

As a volunteer and board member with the Merced SPCA, I thank all those who have adopted pets from us in the past. We can’t continue our mission, unless we are able to place the animals in our care into forever homes.

I also thank the other amazing rescue groups both in Merced and outside the area with whom we are partnering to help provide homes to more precious dogs and cats. I also thank all members of the community who understand that having a pet is a tremendous responsibility, which takes time and money, and who understand that pets are not disposable property.

Our area is inundated with unwanted cats and dogs. This makes our mission of providing love, food, shelter and medical care, emphasizing spaying and neutering, even more critically important. The Merced SPCA is looking for volunteers who can work at the shelter and adoption events, or help behind the scenes with publicity or fundraising. Every person can make a difference in the lives of shelter dogs and cats.

Reach us via our website www.mercedspca.com, email merced.spca@yahoo.com, or at the shelter (209)384-7722. Remember to spay or neuter your pets and do not breed or buy – rescue. You won’t regret it.
