Steven Landis II: Time to act and make Merced a better place

The town I grew up in and loved is dead. I am not saying that other cities don’t have crime, but in the last few years Merced has turned into a place where it is questionable to live in. We have people who viciously kill animals for no good reason, senseless murders and corrupt city officials.

I understand that most cites have to deal with this, but where we can differ is that, as a community, we can stand up and take our city back from the lowlifes who have nothing better to do than commit crimes and drag down the city I once loved and never wanted to leave. We can decide to stand up or remain sitting and watch as our city becomes one where people say “Oh Merced, why would you want live there?”

It may not happen right away, but in time we can bring our city back from the depths of despair and make it a city we can take pride in.
