Miranda Myers: Everyone should have access to better health care

A health care system that excludes anyone hurts everyone because prevention is more powerful than treatment. Our city is healthier when everyone has access to quality health care.

Imagine if some residents only received health care when they visited the emergency room. Emergency rooms are for emergencies; they are not for preventative or specialty health care. And visits to the emergency room are expensive, and all taxpayers will need to pay the bill eventually.

It doesn’t matter if someone was born in California, or if California was born in them, everyone should have access to preventative health care.

Miranda Myers, Atwater
