Detaining immigrant children will be an ugly chapter in American history

Mistakes are continuously being repeated, most recently the lack of humanity towards immigrants. The Trump administration has only furthered the lack of respect and spread the terror associated with immigrants. Immigration policy is being changed and become more of a manhunt in order to secure the boarder and rid the nation of immigrants; kids are the ones that are suffering the most. They are being separated from their parents, held in cages, which is very similar to past events that the world looks back on and wishes they were different. This includes the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide, Chinese internment camps, as well as the assimilation of Native Americans.

As daughter to both immigrant parents it is a demoralizing feeling knowing that both my parents came to this country, a country that advocates for diversity, for a better future for themselves and their children; yet they live in constant fear of the unknown. Regardless of how hard working, determined, and how long they have been here the terror continues to spread. I just hope that the United States changes it policies, before we look back and the mistakes made and realize the injustices we have committed.
