Justin Hicks: City staffer Gonzalves helping Merced become a bike town

The Merced Bicycle Coalition would like to thank David Gonzalves, Director of Development Services for the City of Merced, for his dedication to supporting bicycling in our community. In particular we would like to congratulate him for a successful first annual “Director’s Ride,” which he created and hosted this month in order to hear directly from community members about their needs as bicyclists while enjoying a ride with them on our beautiful bike paths and lanes.

Merced has some fine bicycling infrastructure in place, while also having a wide range of projects, services and education still needed in order to become a truly bicycle-friendly city. With “Director Dave” on the job we can look forward to achieving the goal of becoming a city where bicycle transportation is convenient and safe for all users of the road.

Justin Hicks, Chair, Merced Bicycle Coalition, Merced
