Aida Cordano: Demand an explanation of how rabbits died
Re “Heat kills rabbits from fair auction despite care” (Page A2, June 27): Thank you for your courageous and straightforward coverage of more than 200 rabbits who died from inhumane conditions at the Merced County Fair. Without your reporting, the public would not know of this horrifying incident and there would be no way to hold accountable the individuals and organizations responsible.
Heat stroke is an agonizing way for rabbits to die, and holding these rabbits in such conditions is gross negligence and animal cruelty. This incident needs to be investigated by Merced County Animal Control. I urge your readers to contact Kristi Caseri, Animal Control Supervisor, at (209) 385-7436.
