Peter Lizdas: Trump doesn’t know definition of hero

Donald Trump seems to think that John McCain’s reputation as a military hero is merely based on the fact he was captured and held as a POW after his aircraft was shot down over North Vietnam. As usual, The Donald speaks from ignorance.

McCain’s reputation as a true hero is based on the fact he refused release from that North Vietnamese prison unless those who had been there longer were released first, under the principle of “first in, first out.” Even someone such as I, who thought (and still thinks) that war was a terrible mistake can see McCain’s behavior in these circumstances as heroic. The Donald is a great example of someone, whose “mind is on vacation, but who’s mouth is working overtime.”
