Steve Crass: Marchini for Merced Irrigation District Board
The San Joaquin Valley is to agriculture what the Silicon Valley is to technology. We must do our best to foster the resource that makes it possible – water. Doing our best means electing our best citizens to oversee our needs. Recently, there has been the passage of groundwater legislation which permits local control of our groundwater. However, the legislation is wrought with consequences for irrigation districts that are unable to meet the many deadlines the legislation imposes. Failure to comply will give the management of our precious water resource to Sacramento. We need intelligent people with the ability and background required to ensure that the management of our resource stays local. I am buoyed by the fact that Jeff Marchini has answered the bell and is running for Merced Irrigation District Board. Jeff knows that our future is dependent on our water.
