Clark B. McCall: Marriage issue is clear for pastor
As a Christian pastor, I could not conscientiously marry a homosexual couple. However, I would support their right to marry in a civil ceremony according to the laws of our country.
The principle of separation of church and state inherent in our Constitution would be compromised if we refuse to allow the civil law of marriage to take place because of religious beliefs.
If my religious beliefs are out of harmony with the civil laws in our country, then I should seek employment in some other capacity rather than impose my beliefs into a job description that does not adapt to them. For example, if I am opposed to drinking liquor, then I would not want to be employed where I would be required to serve such a beverage.
