Alice Mitchell: Sun-Star part of media elite; wrong about shutdown

Re “Shutdown plan appeals only to grandstanders” (Opinions, Sept. 22): The editorial board of the Merced Sun-Star is part of the media elite who publish opinion without providing facts to back it up. Your article on the government shutdown left out glaring omissions that President Obama shut down the National Parks and barricaded War Memorials and no federal employees lost their jobs, they still got paid to do nothing. You also stated that de-funding Planned Parenthood because of dubious videos was a political stunt even though 77 percent polled in favor of it. If you ever get around to watching the videos showing lab workers digging body parts out of a Petri dish, or a fully formed fetus’ leg still moving right before they harvested organs for sale, surely you’ll print a correction. I won’t hold my breath waiting.

Alice Mitchell, Merced
