Otis H. Hutchinson: Young women will die if abortions outlawed
I hereby denounce the Republican Party and its efforts to deny funding for Planned Parenthood. It is strictly a vote-getting position as they take advantage of a film clip purported to show the organization making profits from the sale of aborted body parts. We all know that aborted body parts have a place in the medical field, in making medicines and other products; maybe at a profit. So be it.
Being twice as old as some of the candidates who pretend to know all about it, I have knowledge of girls who have mutilated their bodies with a coat hanger to self-abort unwanted pregnancies. Do I know of girls who have gone to nearby cities for backroom abortions? You bet. Do I have knowledge of girls who have passed away while undergoing such procedures? You bet.
Do I have a personal opinion on abortion? Not really, because if a woman is comfortable in her body and with her God, far be it for me to advise her one way or another. Abortion is a private matter, not a political football.
