Clark McCall: Carson inarticulate, not Islamaphobic
GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson’s statement there should not be an Islamic president for our country should have been clarified. The citizens of our nation who are of Islamic faith are wonderful law-abiding members of our country.
Carson’s words were based on the record of Islamic countries that have not honored the concept of separation of religion and state, which has made our country a model for the world.
While this was undoubtedly the motivation for Carson’s concern, he should have more adequately explained the context for his observation.
