A grateful veteran
Recently the students, faculty and staff of Our Lady of Mercy School in Merced honored veterans with a half-day program of speakers, music, songs and handmade thank-you cards. I was approached by many students who expressed their personal thanks for my service and to present me with their cards. It was obvious that there was a great deal of time and talent invested in making the day special for veterans.
In all my years, I have never felt so honored and appreciated as a veteran. I am sure the other veterans in attendance share my feelings of gratitude for such an honor.
