Judy Smith: Merced Symphony fund raiser a smashing success
On Nov. 15, the Merced Mall and Merced Symphony Association co-sponsored the brilliant 21 Chairs Gala & Auction to raise funds for the Merced Symphony Children’s Programs. It was a stellar success! With the help of Merced Mall General Manager Kathy Andrade and marketing director Bill Taylor, we were able to bring 21 artists, local schools and our community together for this very special event. Elementary age children wrote about what music means to them and why we need music in our lives, earning points for their schools. The artists donated their considerable time, talent and materials to provide 21 chairs, benches or stools, which were auctioned off to community members. Proceeds will provide 60 percent of the costs for our annual free Children’s Concerts. On behalf of the MSA board, thank you to our caring and generous business and community for supporting music, the arts and our children! Bravo!
