Daniel McLeod: What kind of country would liberals build? Soviet Union

How’s this for a social experiment: Create two great countries with unlimited resources. Populate one with socialists, left-wing liberals and the enlightened academics. Populate the other with a random group of Americans acting on the premise of the founding fathers, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It would be interesting to see how long each country would survive and to what great heights each would climb. Oh wait, we already did that. It was the post-WWII Soviet Union and the United States. For those keeping score: Soviet Union less than 50 years, USA still going strong!
