John Sundgren: Taking Hillary to task before Congress was necessary

Re “Our View: Have we really heard enough about Benghazi” (Page 7A, Oct. 26): You really let your politics show on this one. Despite what Rep. Kevin McCarthy said to Sean Hannity – note that McCarthy took himself out of the speaker’s race (not a bad move for those of us who treasure honesty, integrity and acceptance of personal responsibility) – the “marathon grilling” of Hillary Clinton was a necessary step in the process.

As for Clinton, the hearings presented facts and testimony – sadly under-reported – showing the State Department, Clinton and the Obama Administration ignored legitimate requests for Benghazi security several hundred times. After the “event,” Clinton and President Obama insulted the intelligence of most rational, mature and reasonably informed Americans by airing advertisements blaming the event on a U-Tube video that nobody watched. Blame that was contradicted by communications with her family and Egyptian leaders when she reported to them it was terrorists.

Too many Americans, and much of the media we endure, have let the value of truth escape them. I’ll put it down to the lowest denominator (not wishing to besmirch the true professionals). Would you buy a used car from Hillary Clinton?
