Chantel Nugent: City officials should tell us where city stands now

Re “Visions of Merced’s dream city manager” (Page 3A, Nov. 11): The Merced City Council recently had a public forum to discuss the next city manager of Merced. The overall theme was that the city’s next manager needed to be transparent when making decisions for our community and to be held accountable by those he is sworn to serve. Can we count on the current city manager, John Bramble, and Mayor Stan Thurston, who are both set to retire, to institute a legacy of transparency and accountability at city hall by providing a midyear city budget review and state of the city address in January? This would let residents know where we stand on the city’s finances.
