Clark McCall: Don’t discount Carson’s past as mere hyperbole
Dr. Ben Carson’s admission he had juvenile problems as a youth should not be dismissed as hyperbole as Donald Trump has suggested. Many successful leaders in our country have had a childhood tainted by indiscretions.
In my own experience, I made unfortunate choices. The maturity offered by adulthood enabled me to change.
Trump’s suggestion that this was untrue of Carson might reflect Trump’s concern that his undiplomatic statement about women and other citizens has been eroding his presidential ambitions. As he see Dr. Carson’s success in the polls, this could be an example of Trump’s misguided efforts to discredit a rival.
Dr. Carson’s unique ability to separate two children joined at the head may also demonstrate his capacity for solving complex problems a president must confront.
