Ivan Laam: I thought we already legalized marijuana
I called state Sen. Tom Berryhill’s office. His office confirmed that Gov. Jerry Brown signed AB 266, making pot legal in the state of California. Not sure of the year it will be legal. So why is it going to be on the ballot next year?

Editor’s note: Medical use of marijuana was legalized in California in 1996. In 2015, AB 266 put supervision of sales under control of the Department of Consumer affairs and added restrictions and rules for its sale and use. The ballot initiatives being circulated now would make marijuana legal for recreational use.
