Gary Derr: My lawn was fine, and I followed watering rules
Re “Some Christmas wishes for Merced area” (Page 11A, Dec. 5): I have a beautiful green lawn and it has been maintained in compliance with the drought mandated watering guidelines. I watered only on my days and only in the hours designated. But I also employed a judicious use of fertilizer on a strict schedule. So for those of you with dead lawns, shame on you.
As for wishes for Merced, Medifend’s No. 6 (a xeriscaping ordinance for new construction): Quit trying to legislate what you liberals think is best for me.
