Donnell Smith: An act of kindness for those in need
In the rush of the season, we sometimes get carried away by our own needs and wants and forget there are many who are not as fortunate and who do not enjoy such abundance. Not true of a group of individuals who, for the last five years, has taken time from their personal schedules to share their warmth and kindness with a group of young adults with disabilities.
This group has brought gifts, kindness, respect and genuine sincerity of friendship to the young adult students enrolled in the Merced County Office of Education special education classroom at the Wolfe Transition Center. A sincere thank you for recognizing that these students are worthy of recognition and celebration. You have brought much happiness, joy and appreciation to the lives of these young people. Thank you to Cliff and Yvonne James, Glen and Beverly Harmon, Jack and Linda Perry, John and Sylvia Hardy, Lynda Steeber and the countless others who have given of themselves over the last five years and allowed these students feel appreciated and exceptional. We can all learn a great deal from your generosity and dedication to all members of the Merced community.
