David Rodriguez: ‘Pill’ won’t cure America’s ills, but prayer will

The article, “A need for sanity before rage consumes us” (Page 5A, Dec. 24) is completely suitable and should hit a nerve. Washington Post columnist Petula Dvorak’s concerns about health care, greed, fear, ignorance, gun control, prejudice, and a demagogue should be strongly heeded.

Asking Santa for a metaphoric pill to sedate us is not enough. We should be praying for what ails this nation and this world. The ignorance of the human race is frightening, and the apathy is disturbing. We need a mind set, of intellect and understanding, though that is not a cure-all. Sadly, I believe the events in our lives will get worse before they get better, but still I pray that they don’t.

David Rodriguez, Planada
