David J. Silva: Just as we lock our doors, we must lock our borders
Sixty years ago, when I was young, people didn’t lock their doors because it wasn’t necessary. Now, they not only lock their doors when they leave, but also when they are at home. They do this because there are too many people out there they don’t want in their homes. The United States is our home, it provides for our families safety and well-being. We the people have the right to decide who comes into our home and into our country; coming here is a privilege, not a right.
The sad fact is that many people who lock their houses are unwilling to lock our borders against unwelcome intruders. Many good people come across our borders, but without proper control we also get terrorists, gang members, drugs and criminals evading justice in their own countries. If these people are not welcome in our homes, why would they be welcome in our country? Too many Americans have fought and died to insure the safety of this country, and if its citizens aren’t willing to protect it, they don’t belong here.
The politicians who are willing to secure our borders are true Americans.
