Dan McLeod: Clinton’s plan for guns could make them very expensive

Obama is now nothing more than a misdirection. You have to listen for the “Clintonspeak”! When Hillary talks of gun control she always slips in as a last comment the word “liability.” The word is carefully crafted. What she is really referring to is “strict liability.”

The theory of strict liability is that if a product is considered inherently dangerous in its designed use then the manufacturer, retailer and end user can be held liable for damages without proof of negligence. Currently, in reference to guns, strict liability extends only to the end user. If strict liability statutes are applied to manufacturers and retailers, gun manufacturing and sales in the U.S. would be cost-prohibitive overnight. Even more concerning is that it is very possible the Supreme Court would see this as not being in violation of the 2nd Amendment because, in their minds, it is not prohibiting the sale, possession or manufacture of guns. As with all things Clinton, it is not what it is until it becomes what it is.
