Jim Higginbotham: Instead of chasing guns, AG Harris should go after scofflaw callers
On Tuesday, Jan. 26, Page 3A, a headline appeared saying California Attorney General Kamila Harris “seeks funding for gun-law inquiries.” Apparently $24 million was set aside to speed the removal of firearms from thousands of individuals prohibited from owning them. It noted a letter from Harris “touted the Department of Justice’s success in reducing the size of the Armed Prohibited Persons System.”
Perhaps the AG can use the $14 million that is the annual budget for the Do Not Call List that doesn’t work. And to think that that is the budget for California, then 49 other states and of course the federal Do Not Call List. Talk about a broken system!
