Garth Wright: Don’t blame Hillary for email issue
Re “Clinton must own her serious email mistakes” (Our View, Feb. 2)” The Sun-Star’s editorial board thinks Hillary Clinton should apologize for using her personal computer system while Secretary of State, while making no mention of several other secretaries – Republicans all – who did exactly the same.
Did Mrs. Clinton send any classified information? No. Did Mrs. Clinton receive any classified documents? No.
However, several years after receipt, somebody thought that documents should have been classified and the political daggers come out. During almost 30 years of military service I was cleared to the highest levels, up to and including totally ridiculous. It is the responsibility of the creators of documents to classify them appropriately. Mindreading is not a talent required by either the military or the civilian government, but appears extremely useful to those that wish to indulge in dirty politics.
Using the most elementary principles of basic logic and critical thinking, apparently not present in the boadroom, the victim should apologize for the crimes of others. Can we now expect apologies from the victims of burglary, battery and bombings to appear in your newspaper? Like Hillary or loathe her, integrity requires truth in full, not twisted logic to make its argument.
