Claire Hashimoto: Merced has a gem in Dr. Bakhshay
I’ve recently moved back to Merced, where I was raised. As I rediscover my hometown, I’m finding gems such as Dr. Shahroukh Bakhshay.
I met Dr. Bakhshay while visiting my aunt at a care facility. After 40 years as a cardiac surgeon, he is now a wound care specialist. Because of his credentials, I was interested in hearing his views about my father’s spinal stenosis. Dr. Bakhshay’s recommendations made sense based on my 30 years of experience in pathology. Since following those recommendations, Dad has increased mobility and is again able to work in his beloved garden every day. Dr. Bakhshay’s knowledgeable and compassionate advice has helped save my father’s life.
Recently, a large dog pounced from behind a hedge, mauled our family dog, and bit my right hand and forearm. I have played violin and piano all my life, so full functionality of my hands is precious to me. Dr. Bakhshay gave me a same-day appointment to treat my deep and painful injuries. He and his exceptional colleague, Dr. Robin Trumbull, have provided follow-up care. My wounds – while still painful – are healing well.
Dr. Shahroukh Bakhshay’s kindness and extensive knowledge have made some difficult times more bearable.
