Steve Bantly: Problem with GOP is that it can’t see the real problems

A new low has been achieved in the Republican debates, with candidates talking about the size of their hands (and other body parts) and behaving like 5-year-olds. Where is the debate on the issues and problems facing this country? The only adult in the room was John Kasich.

This situation is indicative of the GOP’s mentality. Instead of dealing with the problems facing America, its members have chosen to take the low road of political obstruction – as witnessed by the recent Supreme Court nominee debacle in the Republican-controlled Senate. They deal with America’s problems by pretending they don’t exist:

▪ Global warming (if we ignore it, perhaps it will go away);

▪ We don’t need a minimum wage increase; the fact that middle-class workers make less today than in 2000 is irrelevant;

▪ There is no need for ObamaCare, even though it provides health insurance coverage to 17 million working people who couldn’t get it before;

▪ Trickle-down economics works – and we have the deficits and income inequality to prove it;

▪ The global economy is good for America – we have outsourced 8 million U.S. jobs!

What the American people need – and want – are solutions to problems, not obstruction and pretense.
